The Moment of Truth

Updated: Dec 17, 2022

The moment you accept your success and communicate that to yourself, you will be able to thrive for more and help others achieve. You will be eager to inspire others, it becomes almost a duty to assist others, but the main quality about accepting success is the desire to maintain that success. Hence you might be required to work twice as hard as before, to maintain it, but guess what, you already know how, and what to do, so in most cases this is simply broken down to one word, which is, "Practice". So as long as you have the right intention, coupled with a version of your own truth, you will maintain success.

One truth is that, the more we practice doing something we like to do, and ways to make money out of it, the more success we attract to ourselves. I guess in a way; we can measure that level of success based on how many things we enjoy doing and how much we can craft out of these things that we enjoy doing. I for one, enjoy public speaking and playing golf. They give me the opportunity to practice what I enjoy doing almost daily, in view of wanting to inspire others with the experiences I have had, and knowledge I have acquired while speaking and playing. Can I make money from both? definitely. Let is digress a bit....

When alleged bad things happen to most people, they tend to react rather than respond, especially in extreme cases where they obviously cannot blame anything. They tend to question their existence, their beliefs, God, or the universe. A good example is the case of the tsunami in 2004 when nearly 250,000 people were killed almost instantly. I admit it is a little extreme to use this analogy as a marker for this particular subject, but it is vital for the reader to grasp that regardless of how bad we think the situation is, it is still considerably tiny in the grand scheme of things intergalactically, if we decide to put things into perspective. It all adds up one way or the other, in the end, the earth would do what it takes to keep its balance, it will only be unfortunate for people living around the areas where the earth needs to balance out.

Let us not look at life as though we understand how it works, we don't, and in any case, if you are reading this, the least you can do is be somewhat grateful you can even read, let alone be alive to read. I lost a friend a while ago. I was with him for the new year in 2015, and prior to that, in 2012, we spent a considerable amount together in Africa, in Nigeria, to be precise. He simply complained of head and body pain and then drifted into a coma which he never recovered from. So, I was told. I do not understand how that works, but I do know that these things are bound to happen, and death can occur at any time, so the fundamental truth of the characteristic of all living things needs to be embedded in us, first and foremost, and then we proceed to appreciate what we have in terms of time and in relation to how much of it we have to use to give back as much as we can, in view of service. We each face circumstances daily in our lives, and we are driven by a challenging force that compels us to deal with these circumstances. In dealing with such things, some people have consciously prepared their minds for the truth, some might look at a situation and feel it is overwhelming, while others might simply say "oh well, here we go again", but to a few, it is simply another opportunity to start afresh. What is the difference between two people who look at an identical situation but yet take two opposite views and different actions? It is the difference in Perception of their version of the truth, about their given, or current situation.

So, when the tsunami struck on Boxing Day of 2004, I remember exactly where I was, when the news broke. I was in awe! Watching breaking news after breaking news with the death toll incrementally rising by the thousands, minute by minute. The 9.1 magnitude earthquake off the coast of Sumatra was noted to have been estimated to happen at a depth of approximately 28 km. The fault zone that caused the tsunami was about 1300 km long, vertically displacing the seafloor by several metres along that length. The tsunami was as high as 45-50 metres, reaching close to nearly 5km inland of Sumatra. This tsunami was also the most widely recorded, with nearly one thousand combined tide gauge and eyewitness measurements from around the world reporting a rise in wave height, including places in the US, the UK, and Antarctica. An estimated US$10b of damages was attributed to the disaster, with around 230,000 people reported dead. That is about a quarter of a million people, wiped off the face of the earth in one go. That is enough to question anyone's faith, beliefs, and truth, but then again history would tell us that this has somewhat happened before, the only difference seems to be time.
